I believe strongly that couples therapy can save struggling relationships and deepen intimacy for couples who are already feeling close. Congratulations on taking this important step to relate better to your partner.
I'm a licensed psychologist (Ph.D. from Princeton University) with post-doctoral training in relational psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. In my work with individuals and couples, I focus both on people's strengths and the history of their difficulties. I work with people from diverse communities, including LGBT.
I believe you must trust and feel comfortable with the person with whom you will share your most intimate fears and hopes. I encourage you to meet as many therapists as necessary in order to find the person who is right for you. I charge for the initial consultation only if we decide to continue working together.
