I am a child development and behavior specialist and have worked with parents and children ranging in age from birth through adolescence for over 30 years. I specialize in families with pre-school children with pre-diagnoses such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) / Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD). I work with families with toddlers and pre-schoolers with typical but difficult behaviors such as tantrums, sleeping and eating issues, potty training, aggression, sibling rivalry, emotional regulation, social problems, and defiance. Additionally, I work with families of school aged children who have received diagnoses or have behavioral challenges that disrupt their relationships with their parents, peers, teachers, and siblings. I offer a holistic, positive parenting approach and support parents in adapting parenting styles and strategies in order to create a more harmonious family dynamic. I collaborate with pediatricians, child psychologists, school counselors and teachers to establish a consistent behavioral program at home and at school.
In addition to my private practice, my experience in the field includes: 20 years at Rady Children's Hospital as a Behavior Specialist and Early Childhood Program Coordinator; Child Development and Psychology Instructor at Mira Costa College; Director of the Parent Toddler Program at the Children's School as well as School Principal. I have taught parenting and child development classes at schools throughout San Diego County.
I offer office and home visits in order to work with families in their natural environments.
