I love my work supporting and encouraging children, adolescents and adults to realize their unique gifts, dreams and goals in life. For the past 12 years, I have worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds in learning to cope with and heal from their pain associated with: anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma and stress, attention-deficits, impulsivity, addiction, mood swings, relationship conflicts, parent-child issues, adoption and foster care issues, physical and sexual abuse issues, and self-harming behavior in teens and young adults.
What I have found is that many of us become so driven by external demands and expectations in life (e.g., family, partners, friends, job, school, religion, community) that we lose sight of our most meaningful connection of all: to our hearts. In my work, one of the questions clients seem to struggle with the most is: "What do you want or need to feel happy and satisfied in life? Although I believe "reason" is a powerful and important element to our success and well-belng, when we stop listening to our hearts, we can become lost, confused, hurt and angry, depressed and anxious. Much of my work is about encouraging my clients to deepend their awareness and connection with themselves, and to assist them in achieving a greater balance between "heart and reason" when meeting the challenges and pressures of every day life.
Together, we will explore your goals and dreams, and challenge limiting thoughts and behaviors which block your positive energy and keep you from living a balanced, meaningful and satisfying life. We will develop specific solutions and strategies to enable you to feel more confident, clear and passionate about your choices and life direction.
I am "eclectic" in that I draw from a variety of scientific and creative approaches, depending on the needs of my client: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Morita Therapy, Narrative, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Family Systems and Expressive Art and Play Therapy. In addition, one of the unique services I offer is phone coaching in between sessions.
