The Woodlands, TX Marriage & Family Counselor
Dr. Victor V. Wiesner, LPC, NCC, CCMHC
Personal Statement
Dr. Van Wiesner is licensed in Texas as a Professional Counselor and is an Approved Supervisor of other Licensed Professional Counselors. Dr. Wiesner is a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. A college professor, he primarily teaches diagnosis, methods of research, a counseling skills course, and supervises graduate students who are providing psychotherapy. He is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Texas Counseling Association, and Mensa. He enjoys sharing his research with fellow psychotherapists through research journal publications and presents his research at professional conferences throughout the United States. He has received post-doctoral training in hypnosis and post-graduate training in dream interpretation. Dream analysis and hypnosis is used during some sessions if clinically appropriate and if clients express interest.

Dr. Wiesner received an engineering degree from Texas A&M University, an MBA, and obtained his masters and doctorate in Counseling from the University of North Texas. His research dissertation, “An Examination of the Relationships Between Affective Traits and Existential Life Positions”, received an award as runner up for the best dissertation in the College of Education. He has worked extensively with couples, clients addicted to drugs and alcohol, adolescents on parole, and those with serious chronic mental health issues. Post-graduate work includes several months volunteering for the overnight shift conducting emergency crisis intervention at a large urban psychiatric emergency room. Despite varied academic interests, his priority is the very practical business of helping clients meet their goals and reach their full potential. Dr. Wiesner focuses on clients’ strengths and passionate desires and views life and therapy as a zestful adventure and not about problems or people needing to be fixed.

We will work as equals. I will ask you very specifically how you would like to change yourself. If I believe this is healthy from a clinical perspective and that I have the ability to address your concerns in a very significant way, we will make a therapeutic contract for change.

I teach psychotherapy in graduate school and have worked with a wide variety of clients on a broad range of issues. You have answers. My job is to help you find a way that you can win and ignite that passion in you to be even more successful than you already are. My primary research interest is in how people change. I have been researching and writing in this area for 15 years now. If you are ready to consider redeciding some decisions you made in the past then I am ready to work hard with you to reach your goals. It is an honor to be with you on your journey. My expertise is in training other counselors but my greatest joy is in serving others and I look forward to hearing your story and striving to make your dreams come true sooner than you may have imagined. While therapy does not always have positive results, I will work hard to monitor these results with you. It is your life and you have the power to decide how you want to feel, what you want to think, and how you choose to behave.
